Feline panleukopenia, also known as feline distemper, is a highly contagious viral disease that affects cats. It is caused by the feline parvovirus, which primarily attacks the rapidly dividing cells in the bone marrow, intestinal lining, and lymphoid tissues. Symptoms of feline panleukopenia can vary but often include fever, lethargy, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and dehydration. The virus suppresses the cat’s immune system, leading to a severe drop in white blood cell count (panleukopenia), hence the name of the disease.

Giardia Lamblia is a protozoan parasite that can infect the intestines of cats and other animals. It causes a disease called giardiasis, characterized by chronic diarrhea, weight loss, and general discomfort. It is more common in kittens, as well as adult cats with compromised immune systems, and can easily crop up in densely populated groups of cats in places like shelters and pet stores.

Description

The test is based on sandwich lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The test device has two testing windows. Each testing window has an invisible T (test) zone and C (control) zone. When sample is applied into the sample well on the cassette, the liquid will laterally flow on the surface of the test strip. If there is enough FPV or Giardia antigen in the sample, a visible T line will appear in the corresponding testing window. The C line should always appear after a sample is applied, indicating a valid result. By this means, the cassette can accurately indicate the presence of FPV or Giardia antigen in the sample.
